Mary and Jacob’s Beckley Creek Engagement Photographs in Louisville
The storm clouds were ominous, but we braved the weather in order to take the most fun photos of the two lovebirds. Having been together for seven years, but never had professional photos taken, they both were a little nervous, but after two giggles together they relaxed and had the best time for the rest of our session. We finished just as the first raindrop splattered the window. As Louisville wedding photographers we just know you’re going to adore this session and get inspired for your own.

Why Beckley Creek Park is Perfect for Engagement Photos
Located in The Parklands of Floyds Fork, Beckley Creek Park offers some of the most beautiful backdrops in Louisville for engagement photography. With its mix of open meadows, wooded areas, and charming bridges, this park gives couples tons of options for their engagement pictures.
What makes Beckley Creek Park stand out is how it changes with the seasons. Spring brings flowering trees, summer offers lush green fields, fall delivers amazing colors, and winter creates a peaceful, quiet setting. No matter when you visit, you’ll find perfect spots for your Beckley Creek engagement photos.
Best Spots for Photos at Beckley Creek Park
The Egg Lawn
The Egg Lawn is a wide open green space that makes for stunning photos with lots of natural light. The clean backdrop lets couples be the stars of their photos.
The Bridges
Several wooden bridges cross over Floyds Fork throughout the park. These spots create both pretty views and symbolic images about crossing into a new life together.

Gheens Foundation Lodge
This rustic-modern building offers amazing architecture as a backdrop. The stone walls and large windows make for fancy-looking photos without being too formal.
Woodland Gardens
For couples who want a more natural feel, the wooded areas offer a peaceful setting with dappled light coming through the trees.

Mary and Jacob’s Favorite Moments
During their session, Mary and Jacob had the most fun at the creek behind Gheens Foundation Lodge. The way they looked at each other while leaning against the kayak put-in captured their seven years of love perfectly.
They also loved the photos we took near the wildflower meadow. Even with dark clouds above, the colorful flowers added a happy touch to their engagement pictures.

5 Tips for Planning Your Own Beckley Creek Park Engagement Session
- Check the park hours – Beckley Creek Park opens at 8 AM and closes at dusk. Plan your session time accordingly.
- Scout locations beforehand – The park is big! Visit before your session to find your favorite spots.
- Consider the seasons – Each season offers something special. Spring has blooms, summer has green fields, fall has colorful leaves, and winter has a clean, simple look.
- Bring a change of clothes – Pack a casual outfit and a dressier one to get more variety in your photos.
- Have a rain plan – As Mary and Jacob learned, weather can change quickly. Talk with your photographer about backup options.

Best Times for Photography at Beckley Creek Park
If you want the best light for your engagement photos, aim for “golden hour” – the hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset. The light is soft and warm during these times, which makes everyone look their best.
Weekday sessions tend to have fewer people in the background than weekend shoots. If you want a more private feel for your photos, try to schedule on a Monday through Thursday.
