Duncan Memorial Chapel Louisville Kentucky
For an intimate, elegant wedding, Duncan Memorial Chapel in Oldham, County is one of the most romantic locations you can choose. See why Sarah and Jordan chose it below.
How They Met
Sarah and Jordan met at a local Louisville coffee shop, Quill’s Coffee, in October of 2015, during the first semester of their dental and graduate school programs at University of Louisville. Although the coffee and hot apple cider were truly terrible, the conversation was easy.
When they found a mutual love of SEC football and barbecue, they both felt they had found someone special. They took their first photograph together at a Louisville Cardinals football game a few weeks later and have been together ever since.
The Proposal
Jordan surprised Sarah as they were heading to dinner in Louisville. They walked close to the Ohio River waterfront, one of Sarah’s favorite pathways in the city. Jordan proposed, and the answer was the easiest yes of Sarah’s life! Later that evening, they celebrated at one of their favorite restaurants in Louisville, Eddie Merlot’s.
One of Sarah’s top wishes for her big day was elegant and timeless photos. She had chosen a photographer in Missouri whose work she loved and looked for a vendor in Louisville that could emulate that.
Finding Green Apple led her to look at Duncan Memorial Chapel for the wedding as well, as they came highly recommended. The thing we never could have predicted was how great of friends we would be become 🙂
Jordan had moved to Dallas to work for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA after graduating from U of L and because of this, we ended up doing engagement photos on a weekend he was in town.
We went out to photograph their engagement pics in the middle of a tornado warning!Sideways rain and crazy wind made for a fun experience, but not one super conducive to the photos they wanted.
Because the weather was uncooperative, we chose another weekend and went to St. James Ct to capture some intimate photos of Sarah and Jordan. It also gave us two opportunities to connect which made the wedding day that much more special.
The Big Day
Getting ready at the Holiday Inn Louisville East hotel allowed Pamela Butler and the Beauty Patrol a large, sun-filled room in which to get the bridal party ready. The gorgeous hair and makeup was accented by the pure joy of the day.
Sarah’s grandmother came as well and brought a certain “je ne sais quoi” to the preparations. As we went to leave for Duncan Memorial Chapel the skies opened up in a torrential downpour. Sarah still couldn’t help but smile.
As things often do, the weather cooperated when we arrived to Duncan Memorial Chapel. Parting for about ten minutes, Sarah and Jordan were able to have their first look outdoors in the gardens.
We captured some stunning bride and groom portraits before the rain began again.
Duncan Memorial Chapel is a venue that makes every wedding feel personal and intimate. The personal touches added by Sarah and Jordan made the day even more elegant.
Small candles lit the aisle as Sarah walked in with her dad. Her joy was reflected in the tears rolling down Jordan’s face. Their marriage vows brought more smiles and when they kissed the chapel exploded with celebration.
A classic, silver Rolls Royce picked the couple up from Duncan Memorial Chapel and transported them to Anchorage, Kentucky for their reception at Shall We Dance. We spent about fifteen minutes rain free taking portraits along the stunning Anchorage Trail.
Mike Ballard emceed the rest of the evening, announcing dances, toasts, and cake cutting. The joy of Sarah and Jordan was emulated in each of their guests’ faces. As they celebrated with their closest family and friends, Sarah and Jordan snuck kisses on the dance floor.
It really was as if they were walking on clouds. They left to a sparkler exit to begin their life together in Dallas.
We are so grateful to call them friends and can’t wait to see where this life takes them as Sarah begins her adventure as a dentist and Jordan continues to work for the Mavs.
