Grace & Jake’s Engagement Session at Hubers Orchard and Winery Borden IN

December 27, 2020

Huber’s Orchard and Winery Borden IN

When we first met Grace and Jake at Huber’s Orchard and Winery we couldn’t help but notice how well they complimented each other.

As Grace bubbled over with excitement about the epic location and beautiful engagement photos we were about to create, Jake was the yin to her yang… cool, confident, and adoring of his fiancé.

The two of them both attended Centre College, which was the catalyst for how they met.

Jake lived above Grace in their dorm freshman year, and she met him through my roommate.

They had a class together that first semester, Biology 101, but didn’t study together.  Rather, Grace always saw him in the evenings when everyone would hangout.

Each semester they had progressively more classes together, and eventually they never found themselves studying without the other.

Jake made her laugh every single day.

The summer of their freshman year, Jake was about to leave for the Dominican Republic for two months during the summer, and drove two hours to say goodbye to Grace.

They spent the day kayaking at Green River and swimming wondering where the summer would take them.

Here are some questions I asked Grace because I just couldn’t help but know more…

Tell me a bit about how you fell in love?

Jake spent a lot of time distracting me during classes. He always tried his best to make me laugh. I’d never felt more myself around anyone, and told Jake things I wouldn’t even tell my best girlfriends.

Eventually I realized Jake WAS my best friend, and he was who I needed to be with. We spent a lot of evening talking about our futures and our faiths.

Jake told me he was in love with me, and that he had been for a while, and we haven’t looked back 🙂

How did your fiancé propose?:

Jake took me on a hike at my favorite place in the world, Green River Lake. I’ve grown up on the water there, and my family was spending the weekend there.

Before dinner one night, Jake asked me on the hike, and we made our way down to a peninsula of the lake. He had the ring box hidden in his water bottle, when he pulled it out and got down on one knee.

What are you most excited about for your wedding?

Jake is most excited about seeing me in my wedding dress. I am most excited about our two families becoming one. I love Jake’s family, and I’m excited to have even more brothers.

Describe your relationship in 5 words?

Steadfast, warm, communicative, trusting, equally yolked

What is something that means the most to both of you?

Mine and Jake’s faiths are the most important parts of our lives. Our faiths brought us closer to each other, and and continue to bring us closer through studying God’s word.

For their session Jake wore a Banana Republic jacket, Johnston and Murphy pullover, and Banana Republic jeans.  Grace was elegant and stunning in her Anthropologie sweater,  Old Navy corduroy pants, and Frye booties.

This incredible engagement shoot was photographed at Huber’s Orchard and Winery in their Christmas tree farm.  We had to schedule the session around both Grace and Jake’s schedules.

They’re focused on their careers with Jake currently at vet school in Alabama, and Grace moving this next summer to Tennessee to pursue her career as a doctor.
