Maid of the Mist is actually the original boat tour of Niagara Falls, and where Jim and Pam from the hilarious and beloved sitcom, The Office, ultimately decide to officially get married after a series of mishaps along the way.
If you’re a fan of the show, we don’t have to explain to you how magical that episode is. It makes so much sense that an episode and tv couple that is as adored as it is brings so much inspiration for others to have their own Niagara Falls The Office inspired elopement.

We love asking our couples questions about how they met and fell in love, and when you read through these answers you won’t be able to help but have a big giant smile on your face. Derek and Ally have a love that encompasses everything as it should, patience, persistence, a sense of humor, and so so so much love.

How did you meet?
Derek and I met at work- I was hired as an office manager where he worked part time. We instantly hit it off. The very first day we met I convinced him to let me braid his beard for his baseball game that evening.
Later that week we thought it would be funny if we bought matching shirts for us and our other friends in the office. We instantly became best friends spending most of our days together working out, going on long drives to nowhere to blast backstreet boys with the windows down, or talk about anything and everything.
When/where did you go on your first date?
Derek likes to joke that we went on 50 first date before I said yes to being his girlfriend. I don’t know what our actual first date ended up being because so often we spent every day together going on adventures.
How did your fiancé propose?
Derek and I are nothing but consistent in that our stories are always epic and usually funny. We were supposed to take our first ever vacation together to Jamaica when plans changed and our trip had to be cancelled.
We ended up with flight credit that I tried religiously for hours to apply to any and every possible vacation I could until we ultimately decided to take a trip to Park City Utah over Valentine’s week 2022.
Our entire trip was a comedy of errors and the poor guy was walking around with the ring the entire time with every single plan he made to propose just epically failing for him.
Finally, our last night in Utah, we came home from our night out and I was just ready to put on my comfy clothes. I ran into the airbnb all like “where are my sweatpants” and Derek just yelled “Stop! Hey! You! I’ve been trying to ask you something all week and it hasn’t been working out”.
I turned around in a panic, dropping my sweatpants that I was so excited for, and he dropped to one knee in our airbnb and asked me to marry him. He had been so abrupt in his delivery that I was freaking out, so when he asked I was so relieved that I jumped and tackled him and said “of course I’ll marry you, you stupid fucking idiot”
He never lets me forget that that’s how I responded. He wants to get tshirts made with that quote on it. I’m mildly ashamed even though it does perfectly depict our relationship and our dynamic
What is your favorite image from our session and why?
Derek’s answer is any photo where we are laughing, specifically me laughing at him because there is probably no better depiction of our relationship.
For me, it’s the pictures where I’m snuggled into his side; both in the rapids/waterfall, and out because no matter where we are or what we’re facing I’m always safe with him. I love every picture from this session though because it looks just as romantic and epic as it does fun and lighthearted which perfectly describes us.
Favorite quirk about each other?
Derek’s is that when he makes me laugh too hard I hiccup. aggressively. which makes me laugh more. and hiccup more. It happens wayyyy too often.
Mine is his goofy selfies. When I first met him he started a selfie-a-day challenge, and he takes the weirdest pictures with the weirdest captions and it never fails to make me smile or warm my heart when I see them.
