Are you looking for simple yet dramatic wedding venue in Louisville? Check out the Ice House!
The Ice House, Louisville Kentucky
What do you get when you combine a historic downtown Louisville event venue with the modern amenities? Simply put, you get the Ice House!
This gorgeous centrally located event space is steeped in Louisville history and aptly named, the Ice House was formally a building owned by the Arctic Ice Company. It served as an actual ice house and cold storage grocer in the early 1900’s for roughly 45 years!
What we really love about this space is that it gives you the benefit of indoor and outdoor options and that you can tailor much of the space to meet your aesthetic, but that you don’t have to sacrifice modern touches to do it.
The Ice House features 12,000 square feet which is made up of 4 different event space areas, each uniquely charming and perfectly complementary to each other so that whether you choose just one space or multiple, you will know the aesthetic maintains the same beautiful thread throughout.
In fact, if you wanted to you could have your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in the same venue and never once have to bustle yourselves, your wedding party, your guests, or your decor from one location to another.
Imagine waking up to start your day, with the gentle ease of knowing that there’s only one place you have to be… your wedding venue. There’s no worrying about traffic, fighting for parking spaces, giving directions to out of town guests, or your wedding party being confused and showing up to the wrong place at the wrong time.
All you have to do is get to the Ice House.
Start off the day by dazzling your wedding guests with a rooftop ceremony while overlooking the stunning Louisville skyline. In fact, not only can you see the downtown area, but you also will have breathtaking views of Slugger Field. Right in the middle of it all, the Ice House makes it an easy way to delight your loved ones.
The Roof Top Garden at Ice House is most notably used for ceremonies but it can be adapted into whatever you need. The 4,000 Sq. Ft. area can seat 370 guests for a ceremony, 450 guests standing – think, for a cocktail hour, and 220 guests sitting at rounds for a reception.
It’s located on the third floor of Ice House, accessible by elevator, with the rooftop patio making a great space for a bar, cigar, or lounge area. The full-service permanent bar is there to serve your guests whenever you’d like. There’s even an air-conditioned space with multi-use restrooms.
You have the option to add overhead market lights which when strung across the fully landscaped green space — a wonderful bonus feature only found at the Ice House — can really set the ambiance for a love-filled evening.
One last perk of the rooftop space at Ice House is the built-in stage and altar space that can be used for ceremonies and entertainment!
But, there’s still a few options at Ice House that we haven’t discussed yet!
Enter The Mezzanine. This fun space would be absolutely delightful for a cocktail hour. It’s located on the second floor of Ice House and is also accessible by elevator. It’s great for smaller parties or dinners, or even cocktail hours! The Mezzanine even has a balcony that can be used as an overflow space in conjunction with the Main Hall.
In the Mezzanine you can expect painted white brick walls and exposed ducts and painted black wood beans, giving an industrial yet contemporary feel. You can host up to 15o guests here for a cocktail hour.
Now, let’s talk about the Main Hall. It’s located on the first floor, right off the front entrance on East Washington Street. Windows surround the room, cascading it with beams of sunlight during the day. You can easily elevate this space with the option to hang pretty draping across the ceiling over the entire room.
Our favorite part of this are the large overhead garage doors that can be opened during your event to allow guests access to the East Terrace. There’s something so whimsical that gives you that extra serotonin boost when you can allow a flow between inside and outside spaces, and who doesn’t love fresh air? Especially if you’re having your wedding in a seasonable time of year.
The Main Hall is the largest space at Ice House and has the capacity for 300 people. With it’s unique fiber optic bar that stretches 25 feet, this space is absolutely perfect for your reception! In the evening you have the option of using the special LED lights to color the space any way you’d like!
Of course, what good is a reception space without a way to host a party? The Main Hall like the Roof Top Garden has a built in stage for your entertainment.
We mentioned that the Main Hall can also open it’s garage doors to the East Terrace so now we have to tell you all about this space! It might just be our favorite.
The East Terrace opens up from the Main Hall, and you’re able to connect the two if you’d like to. We love to see this spot as an intimate outdoor space.
You can seat up to 100 people at long wooden tables that stretch down the side of Ice House. There’s a patio where you can add couches and chairs and even a fire pit, and of course a covered bar for all your bevvie needs. Much like the Rooftop, you can add market lights here, which will give this space a cozy, twinkly, vibe to your wedding!
This would make such a fun cocktail hour space, but if your guest list is small anyways, seriously consider having your dinner out here because it is gorgeous! The things of Pinterest-dreams.
The best news about the Ice House? You don’t have to choose just one or two spaces if you don’t want to! You can rent the entire venue and have the whole space accessible to your guests.
No matter which space you do choose, you should know that there are incredible photo opportunities around every corner.
