The Prizing House Cynthiana Kentucky
The Prizing House in Cynthiana, Kentucky wasn’t always a jaw-dropping wedding venue.
The original brick structure was built in 1917 and used as a tobacco prizing house.
It’s also been used as a roller skating rink, factory and storage area before it became The Prizing House.
Some of the decor adorning The Prizing House comes from homes that were demolished in Cynthiana as a way to preserve the history.
Two of the fireplace mantels are solid walnut, made in the 1800s for two homes in the city.
Those aren’t the only salvaged items.
The woodwork that accents the doors and some walls is made of cherry and walnut saved from houses being demolished in Cythiana, Kentucky.
Maddie and Carter, surrounded by so much history and beauty decided to begin their forever here, at The Prizing House.
We asked the newlyweds to fill out a questionnaire to learn more about their history.
Their love story is just as adorable as they are.
We, at Green Apple Photography wish Maddie and Carter decades of belly laughs and true love.
Below are their questionnaire answers.
How did you meet?: Carter slid into the DMS on facebook haha
When/where did you go on your first date? Sometime In 2015, I believe we went to O’charleys which was our favorite restaurant at the time
Tell me a bit about how you fell in love? Our falling in love was in my opinion a slow realization that this was different than other relationships.
But if you ask him it was immediate.
He somehow always knew we would end up together but had to spend a lot of our relationship convincing me of such.
Everything in our relationship came so naturally and easily.
I have never felt self-conscious around him and he has always supported me, even before when we were just “friends”.
It was even obvious to our friends and family that this was a forever thing.
How did your spouse propose?: We were celebrating our 4 year anniversary, went to J Alexanders for a nice dinner and ate ourselves to death.
Then when we got home he gave me a note to read on our couch.
It was a love letter that ended with will you marry me and he was on his knee with a ring.
-At the beginning of our relationship he always told me we would get married and I always told him no lol.
So I made a bet with him saying that he had to wait at least 4 years to propose (me thinking it wouldn’t last) and so he proposed on our 4 yr anniversary.
Where/when did your spouse propose? In our living room of the apartment we share together. October 10, 2019
If you love story was a movie what would you title it? “How to convince your girlfriend that love exists”
Describe your relationship in 5 words? Genuine, Hilarious, Supportive, understanding, weird 😛
What is something that means the most to both of you? It is us against the world.
We work hard to be a team because we know that no matter what we will always have the others support.
What was the most anticipated part of your wedding day for you both?
We were both looking forward to 2 things: 1- to eat tacos 2-for It to be over.
Don’t get us wrong, we loved our wedding but we were just so excited to be married and have the big party/planning over with.
Did anything unexpected happen? What was the outcome?
Nothing crazy unexpected happened but we did have trouble with both of our families.
I’d say that outcome was pretty expected but we just brushed it off and continued with our day.
Were you nervous? How did you squash those nerves?
I think we were both a little nervous to be the center of attention for so long and honestly to squash those nerves I threw back some mimosas lol.
However, Carter is way better at handling pressure than me so he just let the nervousness pass and went on with the day.
What song did you walk down the aisle to? Groom/Groomsmen/Bridesmaids- Falling like the stars by James Arthur
Bride: Bloom by Paper Kites
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
We are excited to actually create a life together as 1 unit.
We are ready for the home buying and making and to truly begin our “adult” lives together and forever.
And also- the honeymoon!
What was your wedding inspiration? Wedding Inspirations was very much so an Organic Whimsical vibe with lots of greenery and fairy lights.
What’s your wedding song and the significance?
Our wedding song Is “Honeymoon” by Johnny Stimson and I think his lyrics say it best for the significance.
“Cause when I’m looking at your eyes I go from California to Timbuktu back to dancing in the living room. If I got you, baby everyday’s a honeymoon.”
What advice do you have for anyone getting married? Write your own vows!
I loved having a big wedding and all the fanciness but at the end of the day a big wedding is only for your guests and not necessarily for the bride and groom.
However, if you write your own vows it creates a special moment that is solely for you two.
How did you feel at the end of the day? RELIEVED! We were both so happy that It was over and were very excited to shower and crash in bed.
