The Refinery Jeffersonville IN
Built in the 1870’s, The Refinery was once a manufacturing facility in Jeffersonville but for over two decades to the community it was better known as Kye’s.
While Kye’s sadly closed in 2018 to the collective worry of the community, it was reopened in April 2019 as The Refinery.
The Refinery maintains the nostalgia of the old buildings but has upgraded it’s interior. Where the Refinery exceeds is in it’s open flexibility to vendors allowing guests to choose their own vendors. There are two event spaces separated by a beautiful courtyard. They can host small corporate events or large wedding parties, and everything in between.
This beautiful remodeled event space is where Alex and Stevan chose to have their wedding and we couldn’t be more excited for them!
We here at Green Apple Photography asked them to answer some questions about how they met and to share some details from their day. Read their answers below.
How did you meet?: We met on Tinder
When/where did you go on your first date? July 5, 2014. Our first date was to Hammerheads, and restaurant in Butchertown. Afterwords we went swimming!
Tell me a bit about how you fell in love? We just had this instant chemistry that I knew was something special.
How did your spouse propose?: We took a vacation to Clearwater, Florida back in the spring of 2o2o; literally days before COVID hit. Stevan took me to the beach at sunset and proposed to me there. It was perfect.

What was the most anticipated part of your wedding day for you both? We were most looking forward to saying “I do” to one another
Did anything unexpected happen? What was the outcome? Nothing unexpected that I can remember, thankfully!
Were you nervous? How did you squash those nerves? We were both a little nervous, but just knowing I was marrying the man of my dreams made me feel so much better. That, and a couple glasses of champagne.

What’s your wedding song and the significance? “You Make It Easy” by Jason Aldean. We picked this song because our relationship together has just been that. Loving each other has been easy; Stevan is my better half.
What song did you dance to for your parent dances and why? Stevan and his mom danced to a Spanish song that she loved. My dad and I chose a Darius Rucker song called “It Wont be Like This For Long”. The lyrics reminded me about how much my dad means to me.
What advice do you have for anyone getting married? Don’t sweat the small details of the wedding, and make sure that (if you decide to have a big wedding) that you enjoy your day. It is about the two of you as a couple, so make sure that you enjoy every minute!
How did you feel at the end of the day? We were both tired, but so excited to finally be married!
