Sara and Josh’s Whitehall Wedding

July 19, 2020

Whitehall Louisville Kentucky

Photographing Sara and Josh’s Historic Whitehall elegant wedding and reception was an absolute dream!

How They Met

Sara and Josh are what love stories are made of.  Both of them ended up at the same school in JCPS, teaching high schoolers about life lessons.

Their love grew from a professional respect into a friendship, eventually blossoming into love.  After about a year of dating Josh popped the question on Christmas Eve.

The Proposal

Josh wanted the moment to be truly special, so he created a ‘love story’ book for Sara to open on Christmas Eve.

While she flipped the pages, reading and adoring each personalized touch, Josh instructed her son, Grant, to go and grab the ring box.  THe last page read, “Will you marry me?”

Tears fell from Sara’s eyes as she looked at her best friend and replied, “Yes” with her whole heart.

The Big Day

The elegant wedding affair of Josh and Sara took place at Historic Whitehall Mansion and Estate.

The gardens were just starting to bloom, but the ivy that lives within the walls created stunning, elegant portraits for lifetimes to come.

Ashley Wise arrived early to created a flowing hair style including greenery interwoven into Sara’s hair from Fleur de Mars.

Jessie, Sara’s maid of honor, instructed former students of where to set up signs, chairs, and florals.

Everyone involved was thrilled to help set up and create the timeless elegance Sara had always wanted.

Josh got ready in a separate room in Whitehall surrounded by his three siblings.   His two brothers served as best men.

One of the most unique aspects of Sara and Josh’s wedding was the newspaper article they put together detailing their relationship.

Where they started, things that mattered to them, a crossword puzzle of their favorite events and moments from their relationship.

It made each guest smile.

As Sara walked down the stairs of Whitehall‘s Historic great room, her joy radiated.

She and Josh exchanged vows beneath the chandelier of the fireplace, Grant nestled into her side the majority of the event until they put together the heart puzzle near the hearth.

While the guests munched on hor d’oeuvres from Farm to Fork and Lou Vino, Sara and Josh traveled around the grounds for their portraits.

The backdrops of blossoming trees and green grass made for ideal portraits.  The two entered the reception to thundering applause from their friends, family, and coworkers.

Sara and Josh shared their first dance, then their first bites of cake.

Sweet toasts from Josh’s brother and Sara’s best friend Jessie followed, along with a social hour.

Glow sticks lit their way out to their Rolls Royce getaway car.

The next day they celebrated with a honeymoon at Disney.
